Sharon Watkins announces release of her first of ten songs - Proud - “an incredibly moving ballad, a must for anyone who ever had their heart broken and stayed true to themselves!”

Sharon Watkins is the up-and-coming British singer-songwriter that ventured off to the USA for 8 years developing her folk / indie-pop style ballads. She debuts her much-anticipated, first single “Proud” on 28th January 2022, which has already triggered interest having been accepted onto multiple press outlets and playlists. Sharon was recognised early in her song-writing journey when she won the UK Northern Songwriters Competition with her track “Just to Take My Mind Off You” which will release as one of her cadence of 10 singles in 2022. Her first pop-ballad - PROUD - showcases American influences and her classical training with its moving lyrics, haunting piano riffs and embracing string arrangement. Sharon has played all over the world with various artists and has now collaborated with some of the best musicians on the scene to create a music-lovers, 10-track showcase of her song-writing. Among her collaborators on these tracks are Bryan Corbett -Trumpeter with the Brand New Heavies - who appears on 2 of the songs; Chris “Bebee” Aldridge - saxophonist to many stars including Gary Barlow, Macklemore and Ben E. King - who plays on 3 of the tracks; and Sammy J Stopford – one of the most sought after session drummers having played Abbey Road, Glastonbury and featured on Radio 1.
